What is a DID? A Direct InDial (DID), also known as a DDI, is a virtual phone number that routes incoming calls directly to a specific user or group within your organisation — without going through a receptionist or auto attendant. Each user or department that needs their own direct number requires a DID.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Operator Connect and Direct Routing?
Operator Connect is user-based — each user gets their own calling plan. It's simpler to manage and ideal for small to medium businesses. Direct Routing is channel-based — channels are shared across users at a ratio of 1 channel per 3 users (minimum 2 channels). It's more cost-effective for larger teams of 10 or more users.
Do I need a Microsoft Teams Phone licence?
Yes. Every user who needs to make or receive external (PSTN) calls requires a Microsoft Teams Phone Standard licence at $18.00 ex. per user/month. This is in addition to your calling plan. Users who only use Teams for internal chat, video, and meetings don't need this licence.
Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. Number porting is free on all plans. We'll handle the porting process from your current provider to Breeze Connect so there's no disruption to your business.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No. All plans are month-to-month with zero lock-in contracts. You can change plans or cancel at any time.
How many channels do I need for Direct Routing?
The ratio is 1 channel per 3 users, with a minimum of 2 channels. For example, 10 users would need 4 channels (10 ÷ 3 = 3.33, rounded up to 4). A channel represents a concurrent call — so 4 channels means up to 4 simultaneous external calls.
What Microsoft 365 plan do I need?
You need any Microsoft 365 plan that includes Microsoft Teams — this covers most business plans (Microsoft 365 Business Basic and above, or any Enterprise E1/E3/E5 plan). The Teams Phone Standard licence is then added on top.
